Oxford-inspired Flash Fiction
Or is this a sort of poem? This little piece was first published in an anthology called Oxtail Soup: Stories of Oxford and Oxfordshire, edited by Sara Banerji, and is available as a Kindle ebook. I have tried to improve it slightly.
I can see the Castle Mound from my kitchen window. No snow so far this year.
Oxford Castle Mound: Snow Scene
On the snow-covered Castle Mound
A man and a woman embrace.
They drop to the ground.
Smokers outside the rooftop cafe:
‘Rather cold for that sort of thing.’
‘And rather public.’
Only the woman gets up. She vanishes over the top.
The man lies still, the snow around him slowly turning red.
